FAQs (Piercings)
Q: Do I need to make an appointment for a piercing?
A: No appointment needed! No appointment needed, but you can request one if that is easier for you. Just drop by wherever you’re ready, and our talented team will be there to help you with your piercing needs. We’re all about making your experience as seamless as possible, so feel free to stop by at your convenience.
Q: Do you pierce minors?
A: Yes we do! Body piercings start at age 13 years and up, excluding some specific piercings on minors. Essential Ink Body Art will pierce the ear lobes of a minor under the age of 13 at the Piercers discretion at ages 5 and up. Parent or legal guardian (with documentation) has to be present with a State Issued ID & the Minor's ID or birth certificate.
The parent/legal guardian must call the studio beforehand to confirm the service request. We are strict in our requirements to ensure proper age and that valid legal parental consent is presented, so please contact the studio directly ahead of time to find out exactly what you will need to bring to your appointment.
Q: What kind of jewelry do you offer?
A: Essential Ink Body Art takes great pride in offering a curated selection of body jewelry available. All of the jewelry we carry is of the highest quality available. Implant-grade titanium, niobium, white gold, rose gold, and yellow gold jewelry fills our case, ensuring you’ll find the perfect jewelry to suit your style and needs. We carry Buddha, Leroi, Tawapa, Modern Mood and more.
Q: How common are piercing infections?
A: Infections are relatively rare when your piercing is done by a professional and you follow proper aftercare instructions. We use industry-leading hygiene practices and high-quality materials to minimize the risk of infection, but it’s important to monitor your piercing during the healing process and follow our aftercare guidelines closely to avoid any complications.
Q: Will my health condition affect my piercing?
A: Certain health conditions, such as diabetes or immune system disorders, can affect how well your piercing heals and increase the risk of complications. If you have any medical concerns, let us know, and we’ll tailor the piercing process to suit your needs safely and effectively.
Q: Are surface anchors (Dermals) Safe?
A: Surface anchors are a unique type of piercing that, when done by a skilled professional, are just as safe as traditional piercings. They’re often considered “long-term temporary,” meaning they may last from several months to many years. Be aware that on some clients the body can make them migrate and naturally push them out over time. But with proper placement and aftercare, you can maximize their lifespan and minimize any potential scarring.
Q: How safe are oral piercings?
A: Oral piercings are safe when performed by an expert piercer using sterile tools and appropriate jewelry. At Essential Ink Body Art, we prioritize your safety by ensuring proper placement using high-quality, biocompatible jewelry and providing detailed aftercare instructions.
Q: Can I keep my navel piercing when Im pregnant?
A: If you’re expecting, your navel piercing might need some adjustment. Some people choose to keep their jewelry in, throughout pregnancy, while others may opt to remove it as the body changes. Whether the piercing site stays open varies from person to person. We’re here to help you assess your options and make the best choice for your comfort and safety.
Q: Can I get pierced during pregnancy?
A: We advise against getting pierced during pregnancy. Your body’s immune system is already working hard, and even recently-healed piercings may become irritated or problematic. There’s also a risk, however small, that complications like infection could negatively impact your pregnancy.
