ABOUT THE GOLD

This ring is made from solid 14k gold appropriate for professional body jewelry.

It is not gold plated or gold filled.

Because 14k gold is an alloy, its exact composition and available colors may vary by manufacturer. We carefully select professional body jewelry from manufacturers whose materials meet our standards for quality body jewelry.

Please refer to the manufacturer information in this listing for specifications specific to this piece.

UNDERSTANDING RING DIAMETER

The listed diameter refers to the inside diameter of the ring, not the outside measurement.

Ring sizing can make a surprisingly big difference. Even a change of 1–2mm can significantly affect how closely a ring hugs the anatomy and how it sits in the piercing.

The correct diameter depends on several factors, including:

  • Your anatomy

  • Piercing placement

  • Piercing angle

  • Gauge

  • Desired fit and appearance

Two people with the same type of piercing may require completely different ring diameters.

HOW A SEAM RING WORKS

A seam ring is designed to create the appearance of a nearly continuous hoop. Unlike a clicker, it does not have a hinged section or clasp.

To open a seam ring, the ends should be gently twisted sideways in opposite directions rather than pulled directly apart.

Pulling the ends away from each other can distort the circular shape of the ring and make it difficult to properly close.

Seam rings can also be more challenging to install than hinged jewelry, particularly in small diameters or hard-to-reach placements.

If you're unfamiliar with installing seam rings, professional installation is recommended.

WHERE CAN I WEAR IT?

Depending on the gauge, diameter, anatomy, piercing placement, and angle, seam rings may be appropriate for healed piercings such as:

Lobe • Helix • Forward Helix • Rook • Daith • Conch • Nostril • Septum • Lip and Other Appropriate Placements

These are placement suggestions only and do not guarantee fit.

Not every ring diameter works in every placement, and not every anatomy can comfortably accommodate every style of ring.

FRESH PIERCING FRIENDLY?

GENERALLY RECOMMENDED FOR HEALED PIERCINGS

Although high-quality solid 14k gold may be an appropriate material for initial piercing jewelry when the alloy meets professional piercing standards, jewelry style matters just as much as material.

Seam rings are generally best reserved for appropriately healed piercings because the seam can rotate through the piercing channel and the ring allows more movement than many initial jewelry styles.

If you're considering a ring for a fresh or healing piercing, have a professional piercer determine whether the jewelry style, diameter, gauge, anatomy, and placement are appropriate.

BEFORE YOU ORDER

Body jewelry is not one-size-fits-all.

Before ordering your seam ring, make sure you know:

  • Your required gauge

  • Your required inner diameter

  • Whether a ring is appropriate for your piercing

  • Whether your piercing is fully healed

  • Your preferred gold color, when options are available

If you're replacing an existing ring, don't rely solely on the piercing type to determine your size.

For example, an 8mm ring that fits one person's helix beautifully may be too tight—or much too loose—for another person's helix.

Visit our Body Jewelry Sizing Guide for help understanding gauge and diameter measurements.

GOOD TO KNOW

Seam rings are loved for their simple, uninterrupted appearance. With no decorative end or visible hinge, they create a classic look that works beautifully on its own or as part of a larger curated jewelry setup.

Because opening, closing, and reshaping a seam ring requires care, repeated removal and installation may eventually affect its shape.

If you change your jewelry frequently, a hinged clicker may be a more convenient option.
